Craft Fair

Our next Craft Fair is just over a week away.  The last fair helped raise over £250 for Macmillan.

Looking for some Christmas stocking fillers - fancy a cuppa and a chat - come along - it will be fun.

Village Hall Part II

The Village Hall looks lovely with its new curtains, sewn by Angela Cheesmond.  The curtains make the room look cosy and the new fabric does actually go with the paintwork.

Springfield Veterinary Group have a number of vets and nurses who are participating in the Operation Christmas Child shoebox appeal.  Here is a photo of the boxes they have prepared - ready to fill.

They are looking for a number of small items to fill the boxes - things like toothbrushes, small toys and items these children will use.

It would be lovely if we could make some little gifts to give to Springfields to help fill these boxes.

Our Little Village Hall

I'm sure a lot of people will agree that the Village Hall is a quaint, old little building with a lot of history.

The building was originally used as the village school.  It was opened in 1878.  The 1899 photo above shows the children who attended the school at that time.  You can see the school educated both boys and girls from about five to 14 years of age.

Over the years the upkeep of the Village Hall has fallen on the residents of the village who have purchased carpets, electrical items and drapery for the building.

The proceeds of our Craft Fair next month will go towards the purchase of fabric to make new curtains for the hall.
